ALFA COMMODITY FUND - COMMENTS FROM MR. THOMAS STRIDSMAN
Many traders said 2011 was a ”difficult” year. We at ALFAKRAFT beg to differ. Sure, volatility ran rampant and we, as many other commodity traders, lost a bit over the course of the year, but the trading as such was no more difficult than any other year, profitable or not. We feel we can reason this way because we’re systematic trend followers, which means we do the same thing tomorrow as we did yesterday, every day, no matter what. We understand that after good times bad times are likely to follow, just as good times are likely to follow bad times, but trading systematically life doesn’t become any more difficult either way. Trading systematically means you have to trust your quantitative, statistical research and do what you’re supposed to do. Never forecast anything and never trade your short-term opinions, but always trade and bet according to the correct statistical probabilities. So what do we think of 2012? Nothing! We will continue to do our thing because we know it’s profitable in the long run, no matter what happened 2011 and what will happen 2012. No trader, researcher or analyst can say with any degree of certainty how he will perform over the next 12 months. In our world, those who do are the ones we prefer to shun the most.
